The 155 mm ammunition of the 155 mm projectile is designed for destruction of targets or temporarily delaying the movement of enemy armed forces. The direction of the projectile in the barrel is arranged in the front part by 2 junction cones in the nose ogive, bourrelet, and driving band. The 155 mm ammunition is designed for destroying of stationary targets, places with high concentrations of infantry, field covers, light-armored targets, weapon systems, military and transport equipment, etc. The effect of the projectile on the target is realized by the kinetic energy of fragments from metal parts of the projectile and by the blast wave from a high explosive charge. But unlike the HE ER-BT projectile, the HE ER-BB projectile uses the discharge gas generator (Base Bleed), which ensures extend range up to 38,000m, when fired from 45 caliber gun and up to 41,000 meters when fired from 52 caliber gun.
